A heraldry contest entitled “Steeped in glory symbols of Russia” has been held in Cherkessk (Karachay-Cherkessia). Participants of the contest were invited to demonstrate their knowledge of Russian and Karachay-Cherkessian heraldry, Interfax reports.Over 70 pupils took part in the contest which was organized to encourage studies of national heraldry, their history and meaning, to promote patriotism and civic consciousness. The pupils were tested on knowledge of anthems of Russia and Karachay-Cherkessia and flag colours. Each team demonstrated slides with their presentation.Gymnasium N9 was ranked first in the contest, School N18 was second, School N13 was third.
