Russia and Iran to exchange tigers

Russia will receive leopards from Iran in exchange for Amur tigers. Iran will use them to restore the population of Turan tigers. The head of the Ministry of Russia, Sergei Donskoi, concluded the agreement in Tehran, after talks with Iranian Vice President Masumeh Ebgekar.

The Amur tiger is genetically close to the Turan tiger. The latter were exterminated in the middle of the 20th century.
