US Secretary of State John Kerry said that between the United States and the European Union (EU) a "serious discussion" is being held about the possibility of introducing new sanctions against Russia in connection with the situation in Ukraine.
In this case, the head of American diplomacy is confident that any additional measures would be taken by the Western Allies in response to incidents of ceasefire violation in Ukraine.
According to Kerry, he expects that US President Barack Obama will decide on the next steps to be taken by Washington in connection with the situation in Ukraine "in the next few days”.
Earlier, the Secretary of State said that the position that Russia has taken on the conflict in eastern Ukraine, is "completely contrary" to what in recent times, "the international community has sought."
"I am confident that in the coming days it will be obvious that we are not going to play games and become parties to this extremely cowardly policy (by selected countries in relation to the conflict in the Ukraine)," he said.
