Turkey starts constructing second tunnel in Istanbul

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has announced the start of construction of a tunnel under the Bosphorus, which will link the European and eastern parts of the Turkish city of Istanbul.

 

According to the prime minister, the new project is called the ‘Great Istanbul Tunnel’ (Büyük İstanbul Tüneli).

 

It will be used both as a road and a railway tunnel. The project’s cost is $3.5 billion. The tunnel’s construction will be completed in 2020, Trend reports.
