Farman Salmanov is remembered in Siberia

Recently it became known that one of the streets of the city of Nizhnevartovsk will be named after the outstanding Azerbaijani geologist, discoverer of West Siberian oil Farman Salmanov.

In an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza, his son Ilya Salmanov said that the memory of his father is still alive in Siberia.

"Father, the subject of many monuments in Khanty-Mansiysk, and in Gornopravdinsk and Nefteyugansk and a ship is named after him, and a house-museum has opened in Surgut. It means that in the country a number of different social events are being held," he said.

According to the son of the famous geologist, all this is carried out not only to pay tribute to his father. "I understand that this is done for the purpose of military-patriotic education of youth, because earlier ideological issues in the state were missing. Today, most people want to be like Roman Abramovich and other oligarchs, all values have changed," Ilya Salmanov complained.
