Baku hosts the third meeting of the World Congress of News Agencies

Baku hosted the third meeting of the World Congress of News Agencies on March 2.

 

The meeting is a preparatory event for the 5th News Agencies World Congress (NAWC) to be hosted by AzerTAc in 2016. AzerTAc Director General Aslan Aslanov said that preparations for the Congress are going according to plan.

 

The president of the World Congress of News Agencies and the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Abdullah bin Fahd al-Hussein, said that the organizational work is being carried out at a high level.

 

The meeting was also attended by the president of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA), CEO of the British Press Association Clive Marshall, the president of the news agencies of the Asia and the Pacific (OANA), director general of ITAR-TASS Sergey Mikhaylov, first deputy director general Mikhail Gusman, vice-president of the Reuters news agency in Europe Joachim Schmalz, vice-president of Associated Press John Danishevskii, general secretary of the World Congress of News Agencies Uffe Riis Sorensen, secretary general of the European Alliance News Agencies (EANA) Erik Nylen, secretary general of the Federation of Arab News Agencies Farid Ayar, institutional communications development manager at Argentina's TELAM agency Juan Manuel Fonrouge and the head of the International Relations Department of the Anatolian Agency of Turkey Ercan Gecher.

 

They discussed the determination of the date of the next Congress, the composition of speakers and participants, topics of panel sessions and others. The decision to hold the 5th News Agencies World Congress (NAWC) in Baku in 2016 was made at the 4th Congress in Riyadh, 1news.az reminds.
