In the town of Campo San Martino near Padua in northern Italy (Veneto region), a new street has been given the symbolic name Children of Beslan.
It was inaugurated during a ceremony to the sounds of Russian and Italian anthems in the presence of the city administration, the mayors of neighboring towns, and numerous journalists.
"We took the decision not to forget the most brutal crime in modern history. This initiative also seeks to highlight the traditional ties with Russia in our region," said the mayor Paolo Tonin.
Mayor of Beslan Mairbek Khubaev sent the leadership of Campo San Martino a letter of thanks, TASS reports.
