Alexandroupolis, located in north-eastern Greece, has twinned with the Russian city of Evpatoria on the Crimean peninsula. Adviser to the Mayor of Alexandroupolis, president of the Association of Russian-speaking entrepreneurs Gabaeridis Constantine, who participated in the conference of Russian compatriots in Athens, spoke about it.
"We received a letter two months ago from the head of the city of Evpatoria, Olesya Kharitonenko, and sent them a response. Soon we will issue this. It will be a fraternity of three cities - Alexandroupolis, Sosnoviy Bor and Yalta," Gabaeridis is quoted by RIA Novosti.
Gabaeridis noted that city mayor Evangelos Lambakis has helped a lot in establishing relations with the Russian city, and had "immediately responded to the initiative."
