Stavropol student to visit North Pole

Vitaly Gasparyan, a freshman of the North Caucasus Federal University, is part of an exhibition called “On skis – to the North Pole”. The exhibition, consisting of 7 young people, Russian Minister for Education Dmitry Livanov and two skilled polar explorers Matvey Shparo (the head of the expedition) and Boris Smolin are set for reaching the northernmost point, Yuga.ru reports.

Gasparyan said that he was born in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. He won several stages of the contest to join the expedition, including a rally in Karelia, where the 7 participants of the exhibition from different regions of Russia were picked.

They plan to reach the Barneo Ice Camp on the Arctic Ocean.
