Georgia and Armenia are most religious countries in the world

Georgia and Armenia are in the top five of the most religious countries in the world among 65 states which were involved in a survey by WIN/Gallup International. The results of interviews with almost 64 thousand respondents were published today in the Telegraph.

The most religious country is Thailand, where 94% of respondents are religious. Georgia and Armenia, as well as Bangladesh and Morocco, share 2-5 places with 93% of religious citizens. Three years ago Armenia had 92% and Georgia was in 11th place with 84%.

In Russia, the number of religious people in the past three years has also increased - from 55% to 70%. In Azerbaijan, on the other hand, it has fallen from 44% to 34%. Turkey demonstrated a curious surge of religiosity: from 23% to 79%.

Interviewees selected from three possible answers: "I am a religious person," "I'm not a religious person" and "I'm an atheist." Azerbaijan showed the minimum number of atheists - 0%. In Georgia, there are 1% of atheists, in Armenia and Turkey - 2%.

It should be noted that Azerbaijan, according to WIN/Gallup International, on the level of religiosity is close to the West, and on the level of atheism, to the East.

The absolute leader among atheists and the country with the lowest number of religious people was once again China, there are already 61% atheists, and religious - only 7%.
