Hossein Dehghan: cooperation with Russia in South Caucasus is important for Iran

The Iranian Minister of Defense, Hossein Dehghan, told Vestnik Kavkaza during the fourth conference on international security that cooperation in the South Caucasus region with such a large and powerful country like Russia is very important for Iran.

"You know, we think that our cooperation with such a large, powerful country like Russia is important. And I want to say that stability and security in the region for us is an important principle. It seems to me that we should include holding ongoing consultations to analyze the situation, and monitoring possible crises in the agenda. I think that this cooperation will lead to stability and security in the region," the minister said.

"It seems to me that the terrorist elements and other issues related to drug trafficking, organized crimes and other threats, which the Caucasus and Central Asia are facing - these are the questions that may lead to our regional cooperation and to strengthen this area of ​​our cooperation," he concluded.
