Commander of the Russian Airborne Troops Vladimir Shamanov visited the Novorossiysk memorial on Heroes' Square, where he laid flowers in memory of the paratroopers of the 7th Guards Red Banner Order of Kutuzov II degree to the assault (mountain) division.
The event was timed to celebrate the anniversary of the Victory and simultaneously the birthday of Division - on April 26 it is turning 70 years old.
"It's a great day in the history of Novorossiysk and Russia as a whole," Shamanov said. Airborne veterans of military service attended the event.
