Krasnodar held a Cossack parade on October 16, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Cossacks in Kuban, Yuga.ru reports, citing the city’s administration.
Cossacks from villages and cities of Kuban arrived for the event. They gathered at the Cathedral of Alexander Nevskiy, where they held honorary prayers. After that, Cossack groups of hundreds marched the main city street, heading to the city administration, where the Municipal Concert Hall held celebrations. The best Cossacks were awarded with congratulatory letters from the city administration and Duma.
The city mayor, Vladimir Yevlanov, congratulated the Cossacks, saying that Kuban Cossacks have a long and glorious history.
The Yekaterinodar regional Cossack community, consisting of 28 hamlets and 2 Cossack villages with over 2,000 Cossacks, has existed in Kuban for almost 2 years. Over 50 Cossack classes are operating in Krasnodar schools.
