The North Ossetian authorities plan to erect a monument in Gizel to sniper David Doyev, a Hero of the Soviet Union. The sniper killed 226 enemy troops in the great Patriotic War and sacrificed his life for the country in battle at the Kerch Strait in November 1943, Yuga.ru reports.
Doyev's body was buried in a mass grave at Mount Mitridat. A Kerch street and a former school, which is currently the Crimean Engineering and Pedagogical University, were named after the sniper.
