The updated anti-piracy law comes into force on 1 May in Russia. The law has been expanded to cover sites that share links to pirated music, books and software [initially, the law only applied to sites that shared pirated movies].
The head of the Internet Video association [an association of legal video portals like Ivi.ru, Amediateka.ru, Megogo.net, Tvzavr.ru and TV1000play.ru] Aleksei Byrdin said earlier that many of the pirate sites are ready to be legalized and to cooperate with owners.
