The Soviet Union was able to win the war against Nazi Germany due to the unity and brotherhood of its people, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, speaking at celebration meeting in the Kremlin.
"We will always remember that the victory was achieved due to the unity and genuine brotherhood of the peoples of the Soviet Union. We pay tribute to the heroism of the soldiers of the anti-Hitler coalition and anti-fascists, approaching victory," RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.
