President of Russia Vladimir Putin in the context of today’s meeting with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon thanked him and his organization for their struggle for peace.
"We want to thank you and those who work in the international organization for supporting peaceful affairs for the world," RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.
President Putin also said that the participation of the UN in today’s celebrations in Moscow dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory is very organic, as the organization was created by the countries that won the war against Nazism. "We must do our best in order to prevent such tragedies in the world,’’ Vladimir Putin underlined.
