7.4 magnitude earthquake in Nepal

A major earthquake measuring 7.4 points hit near the town of Namche Bazar in eastern Nepal today, Reuters reports with reference to the US Geological Survey.


The earthquake’s epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers underground, RIA Novosti reports.


An earthquake on 25 April, also centered in Nepal, had a magnitude of 7.9 and more than 8000 people were killed.
