Crimea’s Artek children's camp to be available only for talented children

On May 29 at the Artek International Children's Center (Greater Yalta) a jubilee shift will begin, marking the 90th anniversary of the camp, the center’s deputy director Alexander Kosyh reported at a 'round-table' meeting dedicated to children's readiness to spend their vacations in Crimea.

Currently, day and night the camp is undergoing renovation and restoration work. For these purposes about 3.5 billion rubles has been allocated from the federal budget, Kosyh said, adding that this year in Artek there will be 10 shifts, during which 19 thousand  children will become healthier. At the same time, the deputy director reminded about the change in the principle of vouchers that are now given as a reward for certain achievements and urged the leaders of responsible structures not to violate the principle for children to get into the camp to be able to confirm their ability.

In turn, the head of the State Council of Crimea, Vladimir Konstantinov, called such changes correct and expressed confidence that the health of children in 2015 will take place at the proper level. "Children need to leave Crimea with the best impressions and emotions," News of the Crimea quotes the speaker as saying.

"In the Russian Federation there are special requirements for the standards of children's activities, which are considered among the best. And Crimea should meet them. We cannot allow low-grade improvement of children’s health," the press service of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea quotes Konstantinov.
