St. Petersburg receives Bigiyevskie Readings

In St. Petersburg today the 2nd International Scientific and Educational Conference Bigiyevskie Readings are starting, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.The event will be held under the auspices of the International Islamic Forum with the participation of the Interreligious Council of Russia.

According to its organizers, in the center of the discussion of the participants of the forum will be the development of Muslim theological and legal thought in the 21st century. "The stated topic is relevant because according to leading intellectuals, theologians, and only through the efforts of the traditional Muslim clergy is an ideological victory over the quasi-religious views of radical terrorist groups possible," RIA Novosti quotes a message of the press center of the conference.

It is noted that this subject is particularly important in the Russian context, because the Russian leadership gave the task to the Muslim clergy of recreating the famous Russian school of Islamic theology, one of the outstanding representatives of which was Musa Bigiyev.

"Holding the 'Bigiyevskie Readings' in St. Petersburg is not accidental. It was here that the scientist lived from 1904 to 1930, including serving the Imam-Khatib Mosque Cathedral of St. Petersburg and wrote the most famous of his works. Today, the descendants of Moses Bigiyev are living in the northern capital of Russia," the organizers of the conference reported.
