The Adaptation Committee of the Malgobek district has succeeded in dissuading a local resident from travelling to Syria to participate in military action on the side of the militants, the head of the district administration, Adam Tsechoev, said.
This success of the operation was announced at the last meeting of the commission on Friday. "At this meeting, we were addressed by a resident of the district, whose son went to train to be sent to Syria. He went to Turkey, where the training was held. But we took control over the situation just in time, he returned home. Now the law-enforcement agencies are working with him. The parents appealed to the Adaptation Committee, so we petitioned on his behalf to the law enforcement authorities for a commutation of his sentence. The man realized the harmfulness of his actions, he returned and wants to live a peaceful life," Interfax quotes him as saying.
