Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said the preliminary version of cause of the fire is that the building was clad with poor-quality and non-fire-resistant materials, Trend reports.
During an inspection of the building, the head of state gave instructions to the members of the State Commission to take urgent actions to investigate the incident’s causes, to address its consequences, to provide aid to those affected and the families of those killed in the incident, as well as on other issues.
Then the first meeting of the state commission, created in connection with the fire, was held under the president’s leadership. President Aliyev once again expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the incident.
Afterwards, Ilham Aliyev spoke about the actions taken at the state level to address the consequences of the fire outbreak. He said a criminal case has been launched against those guilty of the incident, adding that they will be strictly punished.
Stressing that currently Baku has a lot of buildings coated with similar materials, the president gave instructions to Baku city’s executive power and the emergency situations ministry to examine buildings clad with similar materials, to examine the composition of those materials, and if there is danger, to immediately dismantle the facing from those buildings.
Ilham Aliyev also gave instructions related to the provision of material support to the families of those killed and injured in the incident, the speedy repair of the building and apartments, with help of state funds, the equipment of apartments with household items, the issuance of new documents instead of those destroyed in the fire, and taking other actions.
The members of the state commission also informed about the ongoing work.
