Slavs celebrate Day of Writing and Culture

Slavic countries today celebrate the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture. In Russia, this year's celebration will become an extraordinary, truly global scale event,  the information department of the Russian Orthodox Church reported.

 

"This festival is held jointly by the state, the Russian Orthodox Church and the general public. It takes place in all regions of Russia and in many foreign countries, which is helping people, especially the younger generation, to learn more about their history, to feel what strong and long-standing ties bind the Slavic peoples, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said in a congratulatory message to the participants and guests of the celebration, RIA Novosti reports.

 

Russian President Vladimir Putin  congratulated the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill on his Name Day and the Day of Slavic Writing, noting the contribution of the Russian Orthodox Church to the issue of coexistence of representatives of various faiths. The Primate said that the consolidation of Russian society, which is based on traditional values, ​​is the result of joint efforts of the state and the church.

 

The organizers of the All-Russian festival this year is the Russian Orthodox Church, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Moscow government.
