Jewelry theft identified in Cherkessk

A major theft of jewelry was promptly solved in Karachay-Cherkessia. On May 29 a resident of Cherkessk applied to the police station with a statement of theft of jewelry from her purse in one of the cafes on Pervomayskaya Street.

"In the course of search operations it was found that the crime was committed by a 55-year-old resident of Cherkessk. She was caught and confessed, handed over the stolen jewelry to the law enforcers,’’ Tass quotes a statement of  the representative of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Karachay-Cherkessia.

A criminal case under article 158 of the Criminal Code "Theft committed on a large scale" provides for up to 10 years' imprisonment with a fine of up to 1 million rubles.
