Armenian MP fined 500 thousand drams in one month for traffic violations

A member of the Armenian parliament from the ruling Republican Party was fined 500 thousand drams for numerous traffic violations in February 2014, Zhoghovurd reports.

"Every time an order for payment was submitted to the court and the judge granted it, Arakel Movsisyan paid the fine. The size of one of the fines is 250 thousand drams. Such a large fine is mainly given on those occasions when the driver was driving drunk or exceeded the permissible speed limit by 50 km/h or more. It is likely that the violations were fixed-rate meter. It is unlikely that traffic police would dare to stop the car of a Republican deputy on the spot to fine him 250 thousand drams," NEWS.am quotes the newspaper.
