Second earthquake in Iran

The second earthquake in the last 24 hours happened in the central
province of Iran, Yezd. There is no information about victims or
damage, RIA Novosti reports, citing IRNA and the seismology station in
Esfahan.


The earthquake was rated 4.2 points on Richter scale.


Iran is one of the top ten most earthquake-prone region in the world -
almost every decade it has earthquakes rating over 7.0 on Richter
scale. In 2003 the city of Bam, in the Kerman province, saw a 6.3
magnitude earthquake resulting in 31,000 killed and approximately
42,000 injured. The ancient city and its fortress were totally
destroyed.
