The main tasks of the Investigative Committee in the North Caucasus are the struggle with corruption and preventing terrorist acts by armed groups, the head of the IC, Alexander Bastrykhin, told a full board meeting of the agency today, reports Ria Novosti.
“Our task includes putting a stop to all possible manifestations of corruption, which could be aimed at untargeted expenditure in the budget set aside for stabilising the situation in the North Caucasus region,” Bastrykin said. 303 corruption cases had been prosecuted, he claimed, adding that 92% of them had gone to court.
According to him, the Committee and other agencies had uncovered most of the participants in illegal armed groups involved in the killing of civilians, including the organisers of the Moscow subway bombings.
