The workers of the law-enforcement agencies are celebrating the Day of the Interior Ministry Worker instead of Militia Day, RIA Novosti reports.
The reform of the Interior Ministry presupposes a change of name from "militia" to "police", so the celebration will also be renamed, athough the celebration still has, as its main tradition, a big concert in the State Kremlin Palace.
The bill "On Police" will be put into operation between the 1st of January and March, from when the celebration will be renamed "Police Day".
Today in all official papers the celebration is called "Interior Ministry Worker's Day". But on the street posters the usual name "Militia Day" is used.Yesterday the head of the Interior Ministry, Rashid Nurgaliyev, met with veterans of the law-enforcement agencies and talked to families of ministry workers killed at work .
