The head of the republic of Karachay-Cherkessia has called off the traditional presidential New Year banquet for officials and decided to give the money saved on it to orphans, the poor and the disabled, RIA Novosti reported.
Traditional presidential New Year banquets have been held in Karachay-Cherkessia annually for the last 10 years. The main guests are heads of different power organs, deputies of the National Assembly and heads of cities.
Money saved on this event will be sent to the Republic Child Care Center, the hostel "Care", and the rehabilitation center "Hope". The head of the republic recommended that regional officials do the same thing.
