Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad met the head of the Religious
Council of the Caucasus Sheikh ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade,
Trend reports, citing the Iranian government.
Pashazade noted the high level of ties between the Iran and
Azerbaijan. Even in the Soviet period the religious figures of
Azerbaijan had ties with Iran. Pashazade thanked Iran for supporting
Azerbaijan in international organizations.
Ahmadinejad arrived in Azerbaijan on November 17. He will take part in
the summit of the Caspian states.
