The Polish prosecution has handed a case on extraditing the emissary
of Chechen militants Ahmed Zakayev, wanted in Russia, to a district
court, RIA Novosti reports, citing the press-secretary of the Warsaw
prosecution Monica Levandowski.
Polish media reports that the process may take up to several months.
On September 17 Polish police detained Ahmed Zakayev, who was to take
part in the Universal Chechen Congress. The district court of Warsaw
did not give permission to the prosecution to hold Zakayev in custody
for 40 days. After the congress, Zakayev returned to London.
