The Georgian side has permitted the head of the Russian office at the
Swiss embassy in Georgia to meet the four Russian citizens suspected
of espionage, RIA Novosti reports, citing Georgian Deputy Minister of
Foreign Affairs Nino Kalandadze.
She said that the Russian side requested such a meeting directly to
the Ministry of Execution, Probation and Legal Aid of Georgia via the
Swiss embassy, by-passing the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In early November, the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported
that revealed tens of people cooperating with the Russia special
services. 15 people were arrested. Two of them were released after a
deal, 13 are under preliminary detention. Four of them are Russian
citizens, Armen Gevorkyan, Ruben Shikoyan, Petre Devrishadze and Yuri
Skrylnikov.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called it a propaganda move.
Moscow demanded the release of the diplomats.
