Publisher protests court’s decision on ‘extremist’ encyclopedia entry

The Russian publishing house Terra has appealed against the decision by a court in the Chechen capital of Grozny to ban material about Chechnya as extremist, a spokesman for the publishers  said, reports RIA Novosti.
The 58th volume of the Big Russian Encyclopedia was ruled to extremist over entries such as one that said Chechens have a "genetic disposition to violence."
The chief editor of the encyclopedia, Sergei Kondratov, claimed that the trial ban was politically motivated and that the material in question “contains reliable historical data.”
