Leningrad Avenue in Moscow has seen a gathering of football fans, mainly fans of Spartak football club. Their march demonstrated nationalistic slogans and was initiated after the death of a Spartak fan, killed in a fight on Monday.

The Investigation Committee confirmed that a fan of the Spartak club, Yegor Sviridov, born 1982, was killed in the north of Moscow on Monday night. An official of the committee, Vladimir Markin, said that the fan was killed by Aslan Cherkesov, born in Karachay-Cherkessia in 1984, who shot him from a traumatic pistol. Sviridov took four shots: one in the head and three in the torso.

A criminal case was initiated for murder (up to 15 years of prison).

Markin said that the police reacted swiftly and restored order fast.

National communities criticize the meeting, calling it a provocation to turn the case into an inter-ethnic issue. Most people understand that tensions on an ethnic basis in a giant metropolis is a road to nowhere, especially taking into account that Russia has received the right to host the Football World Cup.
