Cossacks should promptly initiate a joint duty with the police to patrol streets and public places in all areas of the Stavropol region, RIA Novosti reported, citing border police.
Ataman of the Stavropol Cossack District Society Alexander Falko previously reported that the council and the administration atamans had asked local authorities to create a Cossack detachments in all municipalities in the region for the maintenance of public order. The district administration supported the Cossacks after a clash between local residents - ethnic Chechnya - and the Cossacks, which occurred on the night of November 27 in the center of the town of Zelenokumsk.
