EU observer vehicle kills a child

 

A car of EU observers in the city of Zugdidi in Georgia has hit a
7-year-old child. He died in hospital from his injuries. Witnesses say
that the boy broke away from his mother's hands as they were going
home from school and started to run across a road with traffic. The
driver of the vehicle did not manage to break in time and crushed the
boy. An investigation into the incident has begun.

The EU mission has issued a statement from the mission's head,
Hans-Jorg Habber, who expressed his deep condolences to
the family of the dead boy, ITAR TASS reports.
