Five members of 'Turkestan Islamic Party' detained in Russia

Officers of the Russian Department to Сombat Extremism of the Russian Interior Ministry have detained five members of the terrorist group “Turkestan Islamic Party,” including its leader, Interfax reports.

The so-called “emir” of the “Turkestan Islamic Party,” a 31-year-old resident of Tajikistan, arrived in the Moscow region in order to recruite Russian citizens for the Taliban. He was arrested in Dolgoprudni in November 2010.


Moreover, 4 members of the “Turkestan Islamic Party” have been arrested in the Moscow, Sverdlovsk and Volgograd regions during the period October to December.
