The day of donating blood started in Azerbaijan at 8.00 am (local
time). The Central Blood Bank is checking the blood for infection. The
blood will help people suffering from genetic diseases, a doctor of
the Central Blood Bank Hagigat Aliyeva said, Trend reports.
Approximately 100 volunteers donated blood at the Teze Pir Mosque by
10.00 am. On December 16, the Day of Ashur, there will be blood
donoring actions in mosques and pilgrimage sites.
These includes the mosques of Teze Pir, Gadzhi Sultanali, Bibi-Eybat,
Mir-Movsum aga, Garachuhur, Sumgayit Mosque, the Imamzade Mosque in
Gyandzh, Heydar in Mingyachevir, Shekin Mosque, Shirvan Mosque,
Lyankyaran Mosque and Bardin Mosque.
1368 years ago on the day of Ashur, the 10th month of Muharram, the
grandson of Muhammad and the son of Ali ibn Abu Talib imam Huseyni and
71 of his supporters were killed by Yazid ibn Muawiya.
Azerbaijan, as a country of Shiite Islam, hold memorials for the
killed descendants of the prophet and other Muslims.
