Tbilisi to name street after Richard Holbrooke

Tbilisi will name a street after the late US diplomat Richard
Holbrooke. Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has already
addressed the Tbilisi Assembly with the initiative, Trend reports.

Saakashvili says that Holbrooke supported Georgia during "Russian
aggression" in 2008. He contributed to the development of democracy
and peace in the region, the Georgian leader said.

Saakashvili signed a decree awarding Holbrooke with the Order of the
Victory of Saint Giorgy.

Richard Holbrook, the US Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan,
died in Washington aged 70. He is famous for the Dayton Peace Accords
of 1995, ending the civil war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
