Attracting investment to be priority for Yerevan mayor

Attracting investment will be the priority for the new mayor of

Yerevan, Karen Karapetyan, News Armenia reports.
Karapetyan was elected by the Council of Elders on December 17. He was

proposed by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, leader of the
Republican Party.
The former mayor, Gagik Beglaryan, resigned after a scandal involving

his beating up a member of the protocol service of the presidential
administration, Aram Kandayan.

At a council on Monday, Karapetyan presented the agenda of city works.
He said that the work on repairing the road in the Razdan Gorge has
been completed.
He said that the management of finances needs to be improved.
Karapetyan ordered the transport department to work on a new transport
concept, using global experience to avoid traffic jams and build an
efficient traffic system.
