The former mayor of Yerevan, Gagik Beglaryan, will remain a member of
the council of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, the party's
leader Gaust Saakyan said on Thursday, News Armenia reports.
Gagik Beglaryan resigned on December 8 after a scandal surrounding his
beating up a member of the protocol service of the presidential
administration, Aram Kandayan. Saakyan said that many are demanding
Beglaryan be punished, but he has already been punished.
