Gasoline and diesel fuel production of SOCAR (the State Oil Company of
the Azerbaijani Republic) according to Euro-3 standards will not
affect the prices in Azerbaijan, SOCAR head Rovnag Abdullayev said,
Trend reports.
SOCAR currently produces Euro-2 fuel. It plans to start Euro-3 diesel
fuel production in late 2011 and gasoline in 2012.
Azerbaijan has two oil refineries with a total capacity of 20 million
tons annually. SOCAR provides them with oil from land and sea.
Azerbaijani refineries have a 93% average processing level. The
Azneftyag refinery has a 99% level and the Heydar Aliyev refinery in
Baku has over 92.4% and will be increased to 92.5%.
SOCAR plans to process 6.4 million tons of oil this year, compared
with 6.18 million tons last year. Approximately 6 million tons of oil
were processed in 2008.
