The Oguz-Gabala-Baku water system has been launched today, AzerTag reports.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev was at the opening ceremony.
The plumbing construction in Oguz started on March 1, 2007, financed by the State Oil Fund.
The water system is 262 km long, based on fiberglass polyether pipes with a 2-meter diameter. The water will be transported to Baku without need for pumping.
Baku had water storage, water chlorine treatment, administration and laboratories, workshop, garage for vehicles and mechanisms, water distribution and other facilities built.
The SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system) was implemented to avoid emergencies. Major reconstruction on some pipe sections was carried out.
