The Russian government will provide 70 million rubles to cover the
damage caused by a fire in Dagestan's Tsibari village on November 30,
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at a Cabinet meeting today, RIA
Novosti reports.
The fire burned down 85 out of 95 houses. A monitoring official in
Dagestan said in early December that it is impossible to restore the
village in its original administrative border because the mountain has
a high risk of landslides.
The region head Guseyn Magdiyev said that the villagers want a
multi-apartment house. The deputy head of Dagestani government Rizvan
Gazimagomedov believes that it will be complicated to provide the
necessary communications for the house. It will also cut the villagers
from their farms. Gazimagomedov ordered the regional administration to
develop ways of accommodating the villagers.
