Childrens’ Day and Day of National Sovereignty celebrated in Turkey

The Ministry of National Education prepared a celebratory program, beginning with a visit to Anitkabir, the tomb of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk (founder of the Turkish Republic), 6news reports.


The program included performances at the “19th of May” Stadium and the symbolic appointment of young Turks to the country’s leading posts. A young student from the Ikhsan Aras Oyku Emiroglu school got the president’s post, a student of Shakhin Sevin Osman Bashak school became the speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT) and the government was headed by a student from the Orkhan Jamal Fersoa Elgin Kochubaba school.


Turkish President Abdullah Gul published his message to the nation on 23rd April – Childrens’ Day and National Independence of Turkey Day. Gul noted that Turkey should acknowledge its power, pointing out that people should stay sensible and manifest mutual help and understanding.
