Iranian border guards have arrested a US citizen suspected of
espionage, Associated Press cites Iranian media.
According to IRAN Farsi, the citizen was arrested at the Norduz
checkpoint in north-eastern Iran, where she arrived from Armenia
without a visa. The police say she had espionage equipment and a
microphone hidden in her teeth.
There is no information on the date of her arrest, RIA Novosti reports.
Tehran has been accusing Western countries of interfering in its
internal affairs. Several people suspected of murdering the nuclear
physicist Majid Shakhriyari were arrested in early December. Iran
believes that foreign intelligence services were responsible for the
terrorist attack.
