Patriarch of Moscow and All-Russia Kirill has served liturgy at the
Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, Interfax reports.
He urged people to pray with faith in the motherland, the church, and people.
The patriarch congratulated everyone on Christmas.
The Russian president’s wife, Svetlana Medvedeva, was the first
participant of the liturgy.
President Dmitry Medvedev presented the head of the Russian church a
painting of the Nativity of Christ and flowers. Patriarch Kirill
presented Medvedev with a crib.
President Dmitry Medvedev congratulated all Orthodox Christians on
Christmas, saying that the holiday makes people apply themselves to
the values of kindness and love. These values strengthen the moral
basis and unity of the Russian people. The values are the basis for
the peaceful, constructive and further development of Russia.
The president wished everyone confidence in their efforts and hoped
that the holiday brought joy and hope.
