Russian Patriarch Kirill is heading to Baku today to take part in the
world congress of religious leaders taking place from April 26th -
28th, announced the PR spokesman for the Moscow Patriarchate,
archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, reports RIA novosti.
and some representatives from the hindu, sikh and shinto traditions
will discuss the problems of globalization and its influence on
traditional values, the problems of terrorism and extremism and the
global economic crisis.
On Saturday, Kirill is meeting Azeri president Alham Aliyev and his
wife Mehriban. The next day he is holding mass in a cathedral in Baku.
He will also lay a wreath at the tomb of ex-president of Azerbaijan
Geydar Alijev and visit the 'Taza-pir' mosque complex.
An official ceremony for the heads of the delegations will take place,
hosted by the Caucasus Islamic Organisation.
On Monday, the Patriarch will participate in the opening of the summit
of religious leaders and in the first plenary meeting in the
'Gülistan' hotel.
