An explosive device defused in a park in Makhachkala on Sunday was the equivalent of 6 kg of TNT, plus two kg of flammable materials, RIA Novosti reports citing a representative of the press service of the Dagestani FSB security services.
"Both devices were defused at 19:10, Moscow time. They were made of fire extinguishers filled with ammoniac saltpetre and aluminium powder. The devices were radio-controlled" - the agency reports.
According to the press-service spokesman, an indicator showed that someone had tried to make the devices explode several times. "The bombs were very powerful, so it could be said that a serious terrorist attack was averted" - says an agency interlocutor.
