Driver of gunmen's car at Stavropol market is detained

The police of Stavropol arrested the driver of the car in which the attackers of vegetable sellers in the “Yuzhni” market fled, the head of the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry for the Stavropol Territory, Evgeni Arnautov, said. "The model of the car in which the attackers fled is known, as well as its license number. The owner of the car has been detained. We have now established its involvement in the shooting, but according to witnesses, he watched the shooting away from it”, Arnautov said.

He also noted that the police had all the videos necessary to determine the identity of the gunmen, Interfax reports.

According to the police, the conflict between two groups of people in the market was an isolated one. "We're not talking about an ethnic conflict, and the conflict arose on the basis of individual motives in the absence of observing basic rules of conduct," Arnautov noted.

"The police started investigating the shooting at the market in Stavropol. The investigators will classify the incident, and after that a criminal case will be initiated," Arnautov said.

VK previously reported that on Wednesday in the "Yuzhni" market in Stavropol unknown gunmen opened fire, injuring five people who were hospitalized.

According to the spokesperson of the MOI of Russia for the Stavropol region Evgeni Arnautov, the shooting occurred as a result of the conflict between buyers and seller. "Unidentified persons, five or six people came to the market, and they had a conflict with the seller. They took their guns and started shooting. Five people were injured, and the attackers disappeared", - he said.
